Listed on the National Register of historic places (Wellfleet Center Historic District), this Main Street gem has a storied history. A bed & breakfast in a former life, the home features several en suite baths, multiple living spaces, a private backyard and off-street parking. Built in 1712, the home has previously been used as a personal residence, a dry goods shop circa 1850, a tea room circa 1920 and the "Blue Gateways" Bed & Breakfast until the 1980s. Today, this four-bedroom two-story captain's house is a private home.
A large, central hall opens to a cozy living room with comfortable seating, a separate dining room with large dining table and a renovated kitchen with gas range, refrigerator and dishwasher all at the front of the house. At the back of the house, there is a lovely sun room with seating and a table perfect for puzzles, games or a quick bite. Just off the kitchen is a family room with flat screen TV and cable and comfortable seating. There is a split unit A/C in this room. Off the family room is a full bathroom with shower and a bedroom with queen bed, air conditioner and private door to the backyard.
Climb the stairway in the hall to the second floor featuring a central sitting area with sofa. There are three bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom has a queen bed, split unit air conditioner and en suite bathroom with combination clawfoot tub and shower. Another bedroom has a full (double) bed, window air conditioner and en suite bathroom with shower. The last bedroom has two twins, a window air conditioner and an en suite bathroom with shower.
The property has a large, fenced in-backyard--a lovely spot for a cocktail or a good book in the shade. Barbecue dinner for the whole gang on the gas grill.

The in-town location is ideal for visitors who love being close to Wellfleet's vibrant center and its many shops, restaurants and galleries. Less than a mile (15-minute walk) to the town harbor for more restaurants and activities or a dip in the bay at Mayo Beach. Short drive to Wellfleet's freshwater ponds, ocean beaches, the Cape Cod Rail Trail, Cape Cod National Seashore sites, trails and beaches, Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, golf and tennis. Head up to Truro for lighthouse and vineyard tours and on to Provincetown for amazing dining, shopping and nightlife.
